Dear Member and Friends of the SSQ We are sorry that Thomas Reeb has given notice of his resignation as Vice-President. He is very busy with his work and has little time to do anything else but is still willing to look after our Raclette-Evening for us. Thank you, Thomas. And thank you very much to Jakob Berner who is taking on the Vice-President’s job until the next election. The first event on 23 February was the Dinner Dance, Fasnacht, Carnival, and Carnivale in conjunction with French Assist. It was a super evening and many friends went to a lot of trouble with their costumes. The “gemütlicher Abend” (relaxed evening) was very “gemütlich” - some played “May I”, others Jass or just had a great yarn! On 7 March we watched the amazing film “Vitus” and then we played cards until midnight. The bus trip to Hervey Bay was great and everyone enjoyed the performing groups, the food and the atmosphere. I found the Gala performance was the highlight. You saw all the performances and you could go again the next day and watch the rest. I would like to thank Cecile Scherrer for looking after us so well. We had a Swiss Brekky with “Zopf” and bread and cheese and jam. Even I could not resist. Unfortunately the “Easter bunny visit” had to be cancelled. It’s a shame as it was a great place to go to. We hope someone else will take it over next year. It can be at another place. Jasse: We play every second Thursday. Come and join us! The Choir practices the same night as Jassa. They are always looking for new musicians. The Schwizerduetschi Spielgruppe meets on a regular basis and don’t forget the regular tennis evenings on Wednesdays. I would like to find a person who would be prepared to take over as President of the Swiss Society of Queensland. Please contact me if you are interested. I have had a great time doing it, but I do have to have a rest. Please contact me by email: ruthgreif@gmail.com I hope to see you soon at one of our events. Your President, Ruth Milwright |
