Mt. Cordeaux and Bare Rock walk
add this page to My Favorites
123456789101112

Mt. Cordeaux is the peak on the west of Cunningham’s Gap. The medium graded track climbs up through the rainforest where you can breathe fresh clean air and admire great views. Apart from the bellbirds one may also hear the catbird. Passing beautiful brush box trees and spring flowers we should be able to find an abundance of spear lilies creating a brilliant red display. Once we contour around the top of Mt. Cordeaux, towards Morgan’s Lookout, the observant hikers may spot some lovely rock orchids. About 20 minutes further on we reach the top of Bare Rock. Our lunch break here will be enhanced with grandiose views to the north as far as the Glasshouse Mountains and the forested mountains of the Main Range to the east and west. (See picture above, oh yeah-give us a ring if you can guess the exact location of that fantastic view!) An all time favourite, we put this walk on the program about every two years. We would like to know who is coming and not leave anyone behind in case they are running late. Please contact us as per details below, thanks.

Grading: M-3–2 (approx. 4 hours and 12.5 km)
Meeting: Sunday, 9 September 2012 at 9:00 am
Aratula, opposite Fruit & Coffee shops along the roadside
outside the toilet block.
Bookings Fredi and Diane Ph: 3289 1183
Enquiries: E-mail: fredi@swiss.org.au

Suggestion: There is very limited parking at Cunningham’s Gap.
That’s why we meet at Aratula and arrange car-pooling to have as few cars as possible up on the Gap’s car park and preserve a pristine environment.
Please contact the leaders or any committee member if you need help with car-pooling.
