This fun evening will start with a lovely small dinner. Then we will sit back and enjoy a Swiss movie. The film will have English subtitles so everybody can enjoy it! For dessert we will enjoy a piece of cake and coffee. ![]() Das Boot ist vollDuring World War II, Switzerland severely limited refugees: "Our boat is full." A train from Germany halts briefly in an isolated corner of Switzerland. Six people jump off seeking asylum: four Jews, a French child, and a German soldier. They seek temporary refuge with a couple who run a village inn. They pose as a family: the deserter as husband, Judith as his wife, an old man from Vienna as her father, his granddaughter and the French lad, whom they beg to keep silent, as their children. Judith's teenage brother poses as a soldier. The fabrication unravels through chance and the local constable's exact investigation. Whom will the Swiss allow to stay? Who gets deported? Sechs Personen ist 1942 während des Zweiten Weltkriegs die Flucht in die neutrale Schweiz gelungen, doch diese beschliesst im August eine Verschärfung ihrer Aufnahmebedingungen. Die sechs versuchen, auch mit etwas Komplizenschaft einiger Dörfler, durch Kleider-, Rollen- und Papiertausch die Bedingungen zu erfüllen. Doch der Dorfpolizist durchschaut das Verstellspiel, fühlt sich hintergangen und ordnet das offizielle Verfahren an. Die auf Grund rassistischer Motive Verfolgten müssen gehen, die politisch Verfolgten dürfen bleiben. Awards The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film as a Swiss submission. It was also entered into the 31st Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Silver Bear for an outstanding single achievement. |
