Mount Tibrogargan - Glasshouse Mountains

Everyone notices the majestic Glasshouse Mountains whilst going to or coming from the Sunshine Cost. Their impressive views are even better from the top. We had this walk on last year’s program but I have the distinct feeling it did not eventuate due to rain. At just 364 m, today’s walk will see us back at the picnic area by lunchtime. But be warned, there is a steep scramble up the western rock cliffs to the summit of Tibrogargan. With clear weather, we can expect a wonderful view over the Sunshine Coast, the pineapple farms and a vista from Moreton Island to the D’Aguilars.
Please note there are also some nice alternative walks around the base of Mt Tibro, for anyone who is not too sure footed or not quite up to the exposed rock scrambling part!

Grading: S-6-3 (Some exposed rock scrambling)
NOTE: This walk will not be held in any wet or inclement weather!
Meeting: 9:00am on 15 July 2012 Picnic area on the western side of Tibrogargan (junction Barrs & Marsh’s Rd). Allow ~ 1 ½ hrs from Brisbane.

How to get there: Take the Bruce Highway to the Sunshine Coast. After ~54 km take the Glass House Mountain tourist route exit and head towards Beerwah township for approx. 8 km. Turn left into Barrs Road (this is just a couple of km’s before the township of Glasshouse Mountains). Follow this track around Mt Tibro for about 3 km until you get to the Picnic / parking area.

To bring along: Good walking shoes, daypack, lunch, plenty of water
(we suggest min. 2 litre / person)
Please confirm your booking for this walk directly to:
