Dear Members, Supporters and Compatriots
Hi everyone isn’t it amazing just a few more weeks and Christmas is here. I’m sure it was only a little while ago that I made Mailänderli for the Guetzli bag. I suppose being busy with work, Peter, grandchildren and the SCCS my days are full. This Christmas I will be staying in Brisbane as Jasmine, Michael and the 2 boys will be spending time with us here. It will be great to have the house and diary full of action.
On the 7th of October I spend a weekend with all the Presidents from NZ and Australian Swiss Clubs in Melbourne. Some very interesting points where made with regardsto different subjects such as the survival of the Swiss Clubs, Bank Accounts in Switzerland and the compulsory registration with the Consulate. Things have changed so much since we arrived in Australia 47 years ago. As of 2016 anyone owning a Bank Account in Switzerland will have to declare it to the Australian Tax Department. The Swiss Banks have an agreement with the Australian Tax Department to pass on any account holders details. Another point was in regards of dual Citizenship; from 2018 on it will no longer be a simple thing to register our child or grandchild for Swiss Citizenship. It was not revealed how and what changes but I’m sure everyone will be informed. So make sure your child or grandchild gets registered with the Consulate ASAP. Please make sure when you change your address that you inform the Consulate in Sydney and give them an email address if you have one as most information will be sent by email it’s more economical for them.
Our venue for the Christmas lunch has changed as the hall we had last year is booked out. We still have a Sea Scout Hall about 2min further from the last one and it is also on the creek. Please RSVP as we need to know for catering, bring your family or friends.
Let us know before the AGM if you like to join us or make changes to the Committee. Until then take care and I’m looking forward to see you all.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
Safe and Ethical (formerly Merry) Christmas
All members planning to dash through the snow in a one horse open sleigh, going over the fields and laughing all the way are advised that a Risk Assessment will be required addressing the safety of an open sleigh for members of the public under Public Health and Safety Regulations. The assessment must consider whether it is appropriate to use only one horse for such a venture, particularly where there are multiple passengers. Please note that permission must also be obtained in writing from landowners before their fields may be entered. To avoid offending those not participating in celebrations, we would request that laughter is moderate only and not loud to be considered a noise nuisance under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act.
Benches, stools and orthopaedic chairs are now available for collection by any shepherds planning to watch their flock by night, though remote monitoring of flocks by CCTV cameras is now available. The Angle of the Lord is additionally reminded that, prior to shining his/her Glory all around, s/he must confirm that all shepherds are wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to account for the harmful effects of UVA, UVB and the overwhelming effects of Glory.
By stringently complying with the above it is hoped all members will have a ‘Safe Christmas’, or wouldn’t you rather be old fashion and Merry?
